Autocamp zion

We’re a Camping Family Now! (Kind Of)

Just kidding. Can you even imagine?

But we did go camping. Sort of. I packed bug spray and instant coffee, so it counts, right?

The kids have been begging to sleep under the stars, and I finally agreed… as long as proper sheets were involved. @autocampzion turned out to be the perfect middle ground — just enough nature to keep them wild, and just enough comfort to keep me sane.

What I’m Glad I Packed

  • Matching sweat sets: Cozy is key, but cute is non-negotiable. Between chilly temps and campfire smoke, I changed often, and having coordinating sets made it effortless to stay both warm and pulled-together.

  • A robe: Autocamp offers many modern luxuries, but not all of them. My robe was the perfect morning layer for sipping coffee in the cool desert air.

  • Walkie talkies: Both fun and functional — the kids used them to explore the creek and climbing structure, and we could still call out “Over and out!” without chasing them down.

  • Compostable plates: Yes, there are ceramics in the Airstream, but who wants to do dishes after every meal? Tossing the plates into the fire became an oddly satisfying group activity (and safely educational for the kids).

  • Jumbo Jenga: Lawn games are available, but having our own set meant endless entertainment. Between family matches and sky-high towers, it became the heartbeat of our downtime.

What We Did

We played games — the real kind, with cards and belly laughs. At home it’s hard to slow down, and on most trips we’re out exploring from sunrise to sunset. But here, we stayed put. We sat around the table, no screens in sight, and laughed for hours.

We ventured into Zion, because how could we not? The landscape feels otherworldly — humbling, grounding, and so stunning that even the kids went quiet (which says everything).

We cooked over an open flame, letting dinner take its time while the sky shifted colors above us. Somehow food just tastes better outside.

We stargazed, mesmerized by a sky untouched by city lights — the kind of quiet magic you don’t realize you’ve been missing.

And we told stories by the fire, where imagination and nostalgia met somewhere between the sparks and the stars.

Why AutoCamp Zion Works

For Utah families, it’s the perfect escape without the flight. Just four hours from home, yet it feels like another planet — red rocks, endless stars, and that magical Zion backdrop.

We stayed in the Premium Basecamp Suite, which was surprisingly spacious. The kids claimed the canvas tent (their own mini adventure zone), while we enjoyed the Airstream comforts — proper bed, hot shower, and all.

Best of all, @autocamp makes “roughing it” ridiculously easy — plush towels, a campfire kit, and even a café for your morning caffeine fix. All the outdoor fun, none of the forgotten-tent-stakes stress.

Proof that camping can, in fact, be chic.
